Myspace is a social networking website that has over 80 million My Space Profiles. It is place where people can put up profiles with information on themselves and pictures. Many people use the website to make new friends and keep in touch with old friends. Aside from being a place to hang out, Myspace has become a marketing tool for some websites owners. Myspace has tool that allows you to accumulate friends with My Space Profiles and another tool that allows you to send bulletins to all those friends.

Website owners have been using those bulletins to push websites that have My Space Profiles, free flash arcade games, and funny videos. Many sites like that are pulling in 10,000 visitors and are making at least $1000 per month using Myspace to market. Some even take the chance and place Myspace, a trademarked name, into their domain name to better their search engine ranking an trick people into thinking they are associated with Myspace.

Even though many are benefiting, the trend should have some pitfalls in the future. Many users are turning off their bulletins because they want to avoid spam. Also Myspace is cracking down on website owners that have domains with Myspace in them. Even though the trend may slow down, s long as Myspace continues to grow people will use it too benefit themselves.

The site has also provided great promotion for many users, and has led to relative success for a number of musical artists. This is of course down to the large number of users that can be contacted.

One very important note to make is for young users to use caution when posting personal information and for parents to realize this. It's an unfortunate reality that some people use such sites to stalk young users, so caution must be made to stop this immediately if it appears. This is not meant to be scaremongering, but instead to highlight the fact that it can be great to talk to friends and share your interests, but be cautious when sharing personal information with members you do not know.
